Summer break

Hey how are you?

Gp2 series has a summer break during august, so let’s make the point of the championship!

There are four races left with a total of 40 points. 20 per weekend: Spa and Monza, my favourite two races! (Save the best for last!)

 
There are only first five drivers that can possibly aim to this year Gp2 title, but only first three are in the real position to fight for the championship. Grosjean, Van Der Garde and Pic. 
Bird And Bianchi have 39 points from the leader, so if they score the maximum in every race and Grosjean less than 1 they can win… Only Nelson Piquet Jr. in 2006 at the Hungaroring and Nico Hulkenberg in 2009 at the Nurburgring score pole, race1, race2 and 2 fastest laps! And they only did ONCE… (yes Piquet made 19 points in his next race in Turkey, but Hamilton won the title).
First 20 positions are not decided yet, so we can see a lot of changes. Battle for top five will be nice to watch.

Hi everyone!

British Eurosport (again) will not broadcast live Gp2 feature race. You can see it later today at 18:00 on BE2.

Italy and Portugal will covered both live races as usual. RaiSport2 and Sport tv3.

Predictions for tomorrow feature race?

There are very good drivers far from the top ten, so I think tomorrow we will see a enthusiastic race with a lot of overtakings! And we don’t have to forget that tomorrows race is at Silverstone! So pits will be a key issue due to weather changing conditions.

 

Silverstone gp2 series qualifying report

Tricky session for today gp2 drivers!

Everyone out on wet tyres. Grosjean takes the lead, Mirocha is not taking part due to a shoulder injury.

Bianchi set 1:58.531 and goes first, Parente follows with 1:58.971 .

Live commentary says forecasts predict more rain. It will be hard to improve times with this weather.

20 minutes to go and drivers start to come back to the pits, rain start coming down hard.

15 minutes left and no one on the track.

Current top ten: Bianchi, Parente, Grosjean, Vietoris, Clos, Chilton, Ericsson, Gutierrez, Bird and Pic.

10 minutes left and Caterham Team Air Asia cars are both out trying to improve their times.

Leimer has not yet set a laptime.

In the last seconds Gonzalez P23 spun at turn 1 and continue.

Times are frozen, nobody improves. Session ends and pole goes to Jules Bianchi from Lotus ART.

(Grosjean has a 10 grid penalty so he will start from P13)

Silverstone Practice Session

Bird take the lead in this practice session.

Most of the session run on slicks. At the end Giedo VanDerGarde loses control and crash crashes into the barriers at turn 15. No lunch for addax boys.

No other yellow flags, but Grosjean has a ten grid penality…

First red flag for kral who span and stop on track, then varhaug at turn 14
Session ends with Bianchi ahead of Van der Garde, Filippi and Grosjean.
Times are from 1:47.681 to 1:59.640, a lot of traffic? Let’s see what drivers says.
Qualy at 15:55 (spain hour).
